Awkwardly south of Alabama

I was awkwardly south of Alabama when I noticed that the trees grew exactly straight up. But not totally straight up, they slightly leaned to the west. I soon found that they really preferred to lean mostly to the east. They couldn't though, because they felt more of an obligation to shade their fallen leaves that were on the west side. Some of them didn't ever and couldn't ever have leaves on that side, but just in case they ever did they would be prepared.
